Languages Other Than English

Students choose to study either Japanese or Italian and can continue with this study from Year 7 to Year 12. Language study comprises the learning of vocabulary, reading, writing and speaking on a range of topics.

As well as learning language through the use of text books, worksheets, films, role plays and games, students also learn about the cultural importance of hand gestures, colloquial phrases and the art, history and geography of Italy or Japan.

The college hosts an annual visiting program for Japanese students from Shiroi in Japan and conducts an annual Keilor Downs College trip to Shiroi district schools for in-country exposure to the Japanese language and culture.
