HomeTeaching & LearningJunior School – Years 7 & 8

At Year 7 the transition from primary school to secondary school is a vital step in a child’s education. A smooth transition helps to develop a solid foundation for learning. A broad range of learning skills builds independence, learning and positive attitudes.

We work with our Year 7 students to ensure they feel connected and have opportunities to develop self-confidence and leadership.

Students are allocated to one of the four “Houses” and by having a “House” sub-school structure we can ensure every student is known and cared for. Each home group teacher stays with the same group of students as they move through the year levels of secondary school.

In year 7 and Year 8 a solid academic foundation is established with a focus on literacy, numeracy and core studies in:

  • English
  • Maths
  • Science
  • Humanities
  • Physical education & Sport
  • Arts & Technology
  • Languages

A Select Entry Accelerated Learning Program is offered to student entering Year 7 and Year 9. A different test needs to be taken and students are accepted in to this program based on test scores and an interview held after the scores come back.
